I never even for a moment considered that rain might be an issue … in Mareeba, especially not in May, but about a week before Taani + Aron were due to be wed on a private Biboohra property, the forecast was exactly that. I am very happy to say that yet again the weather man was wrong (it must be terrible to be wrong so much) and while there were a few clouds, not a single drop fell.
Despite a few nerves early on in the day the boys were in high spirits and full of cheek right up until the ceremony began. The better looking half of the bridal party, yes I’m talking about the ladies, were primed and ready with the help of JAK Salons and Makeup by Makayla. With everyone dressed in their finest, it was now time for a wedding!
It was a beautiful intimate ceremony, which was made all that more special as Taani’s Mum was the celebrant. Taani + Aron were surrounded by their closest family and friends, many who had travelled large distances such as the Northern Territory and even New Zealand. The bridal party was an absolute blast to hang out with and there were many laughs and jokes all round.
Following dinner, catered by Highland Spit Roast, and speeches (with an absolute cracker of a speech from best man Jason, it’s always fun to hear what the groom has been up to in his younger years), Taani’s New Zealand family performed a couple of traditional dances for the newly weds, there was a first dance and then the party kicked off - and I’m sure that it continued well after I left.
I could not have asked for a better way to spend my Saturday or for a better group of people. I was welcomed into their community with open arms and enjoyed every moment as much as every other guest. I wish this wonderful couple the most beautiful of lives and I thank them for allowing me to play a small role in it.
