Gallagher Family || A Georgetown Family || North Queensland Photography
I have quite a large extended family but we are spread out, so when I was growing up we would get together about once a year and it was always such a pleasure to catch up with cousins. We would play and fight and tease each other and to be honest there is not a lot that has changed over the years, except now we have our own kids and we have thrown alcohol into the mix.
I was recently asked to photograph this wonderful family who had travelled to celebrate not only an engagement but also the christening of their newest family member. There were nine kids only and despite the distance that is between many of them I could not help but notice the similarities between each family unit (and not just the physical ones). It stirred nostalgic emotions in me as I remembered my own childhood and similar events.
I can't say the weather co-operated entirely, as much of North Queensland was experiencing rain this weekend and Georgetown was no different. We did manage to soak everyone when an unexpected downpour occurred and although a couple of the younger ones did not appreciate the impromptu shower we did manage to successfully complete the session (with the promise of cupcakes to follow).
