Mikaela + Joshua || A Malanda Wedding
Some love stories feel like they’re plucked right out of a movie, and Mikaela and Joshua's journey is no exception.
Their tale began in the unassuming setting of a pub, where Mikaela worked as a bartender and Joshua was a regular customer. For months, Joshua admired her from a distance, often stealing glances but never quite mustering the courage to say a word. That is, until one fateful night, with the help of a bit of “liquid courage,” Joshua finally approached Mikaela. As fleeting as that encounter was, it left a mark. What Mikaela didn’t know at the time was that Joshua had told his friends the very first time he saw her that he would marry her someday.
On Friday 8 November 2024, that someday came and Mikaela and Joshua traveled from Townsville to the Atherton Tablelands to be married at Malanda Lodge. The weather was picture perfect and as warm and genuine as their love story. The couple were surrounded by their closest family and friends for an intimate elopement style ceremony conducted by the delightful celebrant Maarit. The pair decided to keep things fun and unconventional with a coin toss determining who would say their vows first. Mikaela won the toss and confidently began, setting the tone for an emotional exchange of promises that moved everyone. Joshua was able to follow on with equally eloquent dialogue.
The reception at Malanda Lodge was the perfect mix of intimacy and celebration. Mikaela, with the help of her bridal party, personally decorated the tables, creating a warm and inviting atmosphere that reflected the couple's love and care for their guests. The evening unfolded with a delicious dinner, heartfelt speeches that had everyone laughing and tearing up in equal measure. It was a joyful, fun-filled celebration, where every moment felt like a testament to their beautiful journey together.
Mikaela and Joshua’s story is a reminder that love can thrive in the most unexpected places. From a fleeting conversation at the pub to a lifetime of cherished memories, their story shows that sometimes, all it takes is one brave moment to set everything in motion. As they build their future together, filled with laughter, family, and those special quiet moments, one thing is clear: they are living their own version of “happily ever after” and it is one to be admired and enjoyed.
Congratulations, Mikaela and Joshua, on your beautiful union! Your love story is an inspiration and proof that when it’s meant to be, love will always find its way.
