Marrington Family || An Ayr Family

In home sessions will always hold a big piece of my heart because they tell such an intimate story of your life. There is always hesitation to invite someone new into your home but to have to them come to take photos adds another layer to that. From my perspective I both understand it but also feel it is unnecessary. As much as I loved this little Ayr abode, it was the family I loved more and it was the family I will remember more because that is what is most important.

Emily || An Ayr Mother

On a recent trip to Townsville we continued south to Ayr and this is where I was warmly welcomed into the home of Emily and her two, soon to be, three children for a beautiful motherhood session.

I highly recommend you book in for a shoot like this, and yes I’m aware I could be a bit biased. There is no pressure, there is no stress about what to wear or where to go and the water gives enough distraction that your nerves are settled. It also calls for your pretty special photos that show nothing but love and connection.

Stevie || A Townsville Newborn

We weren’t supposed to do this shoot until December but Stevie made her arrival a little earlier than planned but in perfect timing and at a mere one week old, I was in Townsville. Pip told me that “she sleeps 21 hours a day, so if she doesn’t change in a day, these photos will be a breeze” so of course in the true fashion of child, Stevie did not sleep once in the whole 90 minutes I was there, however, she only made one teeny tiny little squeak.

Jovana + Kids || A Townsville Family

When I look through these photos I see the same tenderness I felt when I first read Jovana earnest expression of love. I see an affectionate six year old boy who’s depth is beyond his years and will serve him well as he grows. I see a very cheeky girl who’s smile, laugh and personality is so affectionate you can’t help but fall in love. But most importantly I see a Mumma who’s devotion is palpable. I hope you can see that too, then my job will be complete.

Baby Marlo + Tribe || A Townsville Newborn

At just two weeks new Marlo could not have been more perfect. He’s growing rapidly and his love of food means that his cheeks are filling out perfectly (chubby cheeks are a fine feature on a baby). Of course being the third child does not come without its drama, he is fiercely (sometimes a little too much so) loved by his two older siblings and there is no such thing as a quiet nap, though Mumma is always there to protect him.

Jacinta + Thomas || A Malanda Engagement

The number of times we have tried to do this engagement session was starting to get ridiculous, so even when the weather chose not to co-operate, we went ahead anyway. After all being native to the Atherton Tablelands, drizzly weather is something that Jacinta and Thomas are more than used to.

2019 || A Year that Was...

I’ve been quite for the last few months because I needed that time for myself, for my family, for the life we are building and because of all that has been happening through out the year. Now that January is over I feel like 2020 can really begin, that I can sink my teeth back in and no longer can I have a drink at 2pm and claim “it’s the festive season”. So even though I technically missed the start of the new calendar year and every has moved into the new, I would love to recap with my favourite images from the previous 12 months.

Marrington Family || A Townsville Family || Townsville Family Photographer

Celeste booked this session for her family earlier in the year after they had to leave their home because of the Townsville floods. She was unsure how long it would be before they would be able to move back in but she knew when they did that she would like to celebrate with an in-home session. I’m not sure about you but I couldn’t think of a better way to celebrate.

Finney Family || A Seaford Family || Seaford Family Photographer

Last week I was in Melbourne and in true Melbourne fashion, I was freezing! I am home and now and as is normal in North Queensland at this time of year, I am sweltering and waiting for first storms to roll in.

I could not be more grateful for the weather because the in-home shots are some of my most favourite and the kids claimed that cuddles on the couch was the best part. By the end the rain had stoped, though the skies were still grey and armed with an umbrella we headed to the family’s local Seaford beach. In short, it was spectacular

Skeat Family || Townsville Maternity || Townsville Maternity Photographer

This morning was an early start, the session was at 6:3am, it was Father’s Day, my daughter’s birthday and it was just the time that worked best for us, and I’m so glad we did it this way. Hamish was fresh, happy and full of cheek, his parent’s probably would have liked more sleep but that’s just parent life 🙄 and the light, oh the light was just glorious. I could babble on for days about all the reasons why I love these photos but just keep scrolling and see for yourself, after all I’m a photographer not an author.
