An afternoon at Pallarenda was a little different than normal but we still got to play, explore and enjoy a little treat or two. In the time since these photos were captured, new words will have been learnt, new adventures undertaken and little personalities will have grown and adapted in subtle (or not so subtle ways) but now there will always be this moment and what a beautiful one it is.
Read MoreA few years back in 2012 after being dragged to The Cactus Saloon in Townsville by friends to go dancing Jade found herself in awe of a tall, dark haired man with a great smile.
Nine years later the two finally tied the knot at the Hervey’s Range Heritage Tea Rooms, with a reception dinner at A Touch of Salt and it could not have been more perfect.
Read MoreWe weren’t supposed to do this shoot until December but Stevie made her arrival a little earlier than planned but in perfect timing and at a mere one week old, I was in Townsville. Pip told me that “she sleeps 21 hours a day, so if she doesn’t change in a day, these photos will be a breeze” so of course in the true fashion of child, Stevie did not sleep once in the whole 90 minutes I was there, however, she only made one teeny tiny little squeak.
Read MoreWhen I look through these photos I see the same tenderness I felt when I first read Jovana earnest expression of love. I see an affectionate six year old boy who’s depth is beyond his years and will serve him well as he grows. I see a very cheeky girl who’s smile, laugh and personality is so affectionate you can’t help but fall in love. But most importantly I see a Mumma who’s devotion is palpable. I hope you can see that too, then my job will be complete.
Read MoreAt just two weeks new Marlo could not have been more perfect. He’s growing rapidly and his love of food means that his cheeks are filling out perfectly (chubby cheeks are a fine feature on a baby). Of course being the third child does not come without its drama, he is fiercely (sometimes a little too much so) loved by his two older siblings and there is no such thing as a quiet nap, though Mumma is always there to protect him.
Read MoreI am pretty certain that there could be no better location. Cheriese and her three boys spent the day revelling in the spring time warmth at Alma Bay, soaking up the joys of salt water and sand. It was early afternoon when I joined them and the bay was mostly ours, the sea breeze cool and refreshing and the sun rays warm and golden. We climbed rocks and explored their hidden secrets. There were many cuddles and much love shared. I learned of a mother’s love that would move mountains and raise glorious men. The boys outwardly showed that photos were not their thing but occasionally through this facade I would glimpse the excitement of being up to record their mother’s memories*.
Read MoreI’ve been quite for the last few months because I needed that time for myself, for my family, for the life we are building and because of all that has been happening through out the year. Now that January is over I feel like 2020 can really begin, that I can sink my teeth back in and no longer can I have a drink at 2pm and claim “it’s the festive season”. So even though I technically missed the start of the new calendar year and every has moved into the new, I would love to recap with my favourite images from the previous 12 months.
Read MoreThis beautiful family travelled from Collinsville to Townsville to have a session with me recently, it always mean so much when people travel to meet me, but really I think I was the lucky one in this case (except for the early morning start).
Read MoreI’ve known Renee my whole life, you see she is one of my younger cousins. I’ve seen her grown through many different stages and most recently into the gorgeous mother that she is. But through it all I have never had the privilege of capturing her family, I have taken photos of her eldest but she sneakily snuck out of those ones. On my most recent trip to Townsville the stars aligned, our dates overlapped (her family lives in Nebo) and she wanted to update her family photos … cue happy dance!
Read MoreBack in February when Townsville was getting it’s fair share of rain I joined with a number of other local photographers to bring a little light into the lives of those affected. I (being myself) wanted to do it a little differently and instead of giving a photo session to those who had been displaced due to flooding, I gave mine to those who gave up their homes and took in family and friends. These people were nominated by strangers and loved ones and even though it’s just something you do in a time of crisis, it goes to show what big beautiful hearts they have.
